Apps & Sync

Web / PWA / Desktop, offline, multi-device sync

Three entry points compared

• 01 Slima platforms overview Web / PWA / Desktop Electron / Mobile PWA — one account across platforms. Three entry points compared.
• 02 Pick web / PWA / desktop Quick decision tree: how often do you use Slima, do you want OS integration, auto-update → matched entry point.
• 03 Multi-device workflow Chain laptop / desktop / tablet / phone on the same book. Sync confidence + conflict handling.

PWA install & updates

• 01 Install Slima as PWA Web Slima can be "added to home / desktop" as a standalone app (PWA). Steps for Chrome / Edge / Safari.
• 02 PWA auto-update PWA downloads new versions in the background, shows "new version available" + "Update now". Manual update / force-refresh cache.

Desktop app

• 01 Install desktop app Slima desktop is an Electron app for Windows / macOS / Linux. Download + install steps.
• 02 Desktop OAuth sign-in Desktop uses system browser OAuth (Google), token encrypted via safeStorage. How it works + setup.
• 03 Desktop auto-update Electron desktop checks for updates after launch, asks before downloading, then prompts "Restart to update" when ready. Manual "Check for updates" available.
• 04 Desktop native menu vs Web Electron desktop adds an OS-level menu bar (File / Edit / View / Navigate / Window / Help) — Web doesn't have it. See the detailed native-menu article.

Connection & sync indicators

• 01 Four connection modes Slima connection state has 4 modes: online, offline, local, syncing. What each means + UI display.
• 02 Sync state (7) + pending items Sync status (7 states: synced / pending / error / sign-in needed / …) + pending items count + last sync time + manual sync button.

Offline mode

• 01 Write offline + auto-sync on reconnect How Slima behaves offline: writing saves locally, auto-pushes on reconnect. Offline-available features vs unavailable.
• 02 "Offline-ready" indicator First time you install PWA / open Slima, once the Service Worker has cached everything → "Offline-ready" one-time popup. Means you can use Slima without network.

Sync conflicts

• 01 Same-file multi-device edit: choosing a version Two devices edited the same passage → the conflict dialog appears. Four actions: Keep Mine, Use Theirs, Keep Both, Resolve Later. Only Keep Both leaves you a copy of the other version.
• 02 File deleted by another device: 2 options You were editing a file when another device deleted it → "Confirm delete / Restore file" 2-option prompt. Either way, your edits aren't lost.

Version notifications

• 01 Whats-new modal + Version badge When Slima ships: bottom-right VersionBadge pulses purple = unread updates; click to open WhatsNewModal with release notes.
