Slima platforms overview
Last updated September 9, 2026 · 3 min read
Slima runs on lots of platforms, but the account and books stay the same — a 30-second overview of where you can use it.

Four platforms
| Platform | How to get in | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Web | Open slima.ai in a browser | Occasional use, no install |
| PWA (desktop) | Add to dock / start menu | Regular use, want native-app feel |
| Electron desktop 🚧 | Download .exe / .dmg (in development) | Want OS-native menus, notifications, auto-update |
| PWA (mobile) | Add to home screen | Writing on a phone, or on a tablet held upright |
One Slima account works everywhere — books, settings, and AI chats sync live; switching devices is seamless.
On a phone (and a tablet held upright)
Mobile is not a cut-down reader. Below roughly 1024px of window width — which includes an iPad in portrait — Slima switches to a shell built for touch: the editor, the file tree and the AI chat panel are each laid out for a single column, menus and pickers rise from the bottom edge as sheets instead of small floating pop-ups, and the buttons are big enough to hit with a thumb.
Screenplays are editable here too — tap a line or a scene heading and you edit it in place. .map, .beats and .timeline files can be edited on a phone as well; .geomap (the map) is view-only until you're back on a wider screen.
Real-world example: one book, many platforms
A common day:
- Morning: 1 hour on the desktop
- Commute: pull out the phone, edit a few paragraphs
- Afternoon: back at the office desktop, keep writing
Whatever you wrote on any device shows up on the others after sync.
