4.0.66: sync, account switching, word counts and AI suggestions

4.0.66 is mostly fixes. It brings everything since 4.0.48 in one go: when two devices or two tabs edit the same file, your text is no longer silently overwritten. It also covers switching accounts and signing out, word counts, and accepting AI suggestions. This update goes from 4.0.48 straight to 4.0.66, and every version in between is included.

Sync and conflicts

  • When two devices edit the same file and one syncs later, you now see a conflict prompt and get to choose. The device that syncs last no longer silently replaces the other one’s text.
  • After you choose “Keep Mine”, the same file no longer keeps jumping back into a conflict. If one device renames a file and another edits it, both changes are kept.
  • If you open two tabs on the same account and edit the same file, the side that gets overwritten is saved as a “conflict backup” copy instead of disappearing. When you choose “Keep Both”, the copy goes into your reference material and doesn’t count toward your manuscript word count.
  • When you choose “Use Theirs”, your version is first saved as a conflict backup before it’s replaced. If it can’t be saved, nothing is replaced and you’re told why. The file’s word count also switches to the other version’s count.
  • Background sync now gathers your own changes first, then pulls the latest from the cloud, and only then uploads. It no longer writes an older version over a newer one in the cloud.
  • After you restore a version from file history, it syncs to the cloud right away. If another tab is still showing the content from before the restore, saving there won’t overwrite the version you just restored.
  • When sync fails and then retries successfully, the book now correctly shows “Synced”. When background sync finishes, “Pending” in the sidebar disappears right away, with no need to refresh.
  • “Backup before restore” and “Auto-backup before AI actions” stay in this device’s version history and aren’t cleaned up by sync, so you can still restore from them later.

Library, sign-in and switching accounts

  • With many books, including some in the trash, a newly created book no longer vanishes from your list a few minutes later. Signing in on a new device also downloads all of your books.
  • The first time you sign in on a new device, the whole book list appears at once with “{n} book(s) still downloading”. Books that have finished downloading can be opened right away.
  • When you switch accounts on the same device, you only see your own books. Older books that exist only on this device and not in the cloud now always show up.
  • After you sign out and refresh, you no longer end up signed in again.
  • If an existing account signs in on a new device, it no longer stops at the language-selection welcome page. It goes straight to the page you were heading for.
  • The limit on how many books you can have no longer counts books in the trash.

Word counts and streaks

  • “Today” word count only counts files whose content really changed. Differences from recounting or backfilling are no longer treated as words written today, and they can’t add an extra day to your streak. A daily goal also no longer shows as reached when it isn’t.
  • If you write offline and sync the next day, words written within the last 24 hours count toward the streak for the day you wrote them.
  • If you delete a chapter and recreate it with the same name, it’s no longer treated as reference material, so your manuscript word count doesn’t come up short.

AI

  • An AI suggestion that was waiting for review sometimes had no review card in the text. It’s now drawn in the text, and you can accept or skip it right there.
  • After you press “Accept”, Ctrl+Z (or Undo in the toolbar) takes you back to how it looked before.
  • When the AI changes several places at once and you accept them one block at a time, the last sentence of the chapter is no longer written in twice. If a change can’t be matched to the file’s text, it’s marked as unable to apply so you can skip it.
  • When the AI is briefly busy, a response in progress is resent automatically, up to two times.
  • In AI memory management, a book from a team knowledge base now appears in the book list.

Other

  • On narrow screens, version names in “View History” are no longer cut off, and toasts that disappear on their own no longer block taps underneath.
  • Types in your points history no longer show English codes. Types we don’t recognize show as “Other”.
  • When you import a screenplay, bracketed notes in scene headings (such as flashback or dream) go into the notes field and come after day or night.
  • Inviting the same member at the same time no longer causes an error. The invitation is sent again instead.

How to update

When you see “New version available”, press “Update now”.

If you don’t see the prompt: on the web, close every Slima tab and open it again. For the installed app, quit it completely and reopen it.

If the conflict still shows up after updating

Don’t press any button yet. Take a screenshot with the message at the top and the text inside the window both in it, and send it to service@slima.ai, or tell us on Discord.
