This week, Slima’s most important signature feature lands: AI Beta Reader Personas.
Why we built Beta Reader
One of the deepest pain points in long-form writing — nobody reads your unfinished draft.
- Family doesn’t really count as a reader
- Friends are afraid to hurt your feelings
- Your editor is waiting for the finished manuscript
But you need feedback now. Does the opening hook? Is that turn too abrupt? Does this character feel real?
Beta Reader is a test reader who’s always available, never minds your pace, and actually tells you how it felt.
V1 ships with 4 personas
Each persona is a reader with a fully-defined personality:
- Different reading preferences — some love slow-burn suspense, others bail when openings drag
- Different pet peeves — some skip info-dumps, others get pulled out by jargon
- Different reading speeds and attention patterns — modeling real readers’ chapter-to-chapter memory decay
V1 ships with 4 preset personas — each has their own bio, reading list, and preferences.
Use cases:
- Send your chapter to one persona
- Or to all 4 in parallel for cross-reference
Kindle-style ratings
Every reader, after finishing a chapter, gives you:
- ⭐ 1–5 star overall rating (Kindle review style — scannable at a glance)
- ✅/❌ “Would I read the next chapter?” binary call (the most important signal)
- 📍 “Why I didn’t like this part” with specific quotes (not vague “pacing’s off”)
If a reader bails, they tell you exactly which paragraph, which line.
How to use it
- Open a chapter, click
Beta Readerin the sidebar - Pick one of the 4 personas
- Click Send to Reader
- About 30 seconds later, the full reader report comes back
This is V1. Persona count and behavioral depth keep expanding from here.
