Welcome to Slima

Slima is a workspace for long-form writing. A book here is a file tree: manuscript, screenplay, character relationships, world map and story timeline all live under the same root, and the AI reads the whole tree rather than the paragraph you pasted at it.

The first screen after you sign in

A short stack of cards. A brand-new account sees two of them:

• Writing Studio — create and edit your written works. Novels, essays, memoir, non-fiction, screenplays: all of it is written here.
• AI Beta Reader — get feedback from AI readers. The manuscript doesn't have to have been written in Slima; import one and it can be read.

If your account still holds a screenplay project from before 4.0, a third card appears: Script Studio. That is where those old projects live. It no longer starts new works, and if you have none, the card never shows up. What the old books can still do, and how to bring one across, is in the old Script Studio.

One book, one file tree

There is no "novel mode" and "screenplay mode" fork inside the Writing Studio. Open a book, and the tree is on the left. Right-click a folder and six kinds of file are one click away.

Manuscript, script, reference and folder sit on the first level of the menu. The relationship map, map, timeline and beat board are tucked under More.

Characters and locations are not special entities any more. They are .md files. Write as much as you want in them; the AI can read them.

The AI edits structure, not only sentences

Each of those five structured file types has its own set of field-level tools. Ask it to move a beat earlier, to add the missing link between two characters, to fill in a date the timeline is missing, and it changes the field rather than rewriting the whole file. Nothing lands straight in the file: the changes queue up for review, and you work through them with Accept or Skip, or take the lot with Accept all in this file.

On the manuscript side there is the AI Coach in the right-hand panel. It knows where you are and what chapter two set up, so its suggestions are about this book.

The AI Beta Reader

Finished a passage, a chapter or a whole draft? Hand it to AI readers and find out where someone would turn the page and where they would put it down. It is a separate door on the home screen, and the manuscript can be a Word or Markdown file you brought from outside.

Reaching in from other AI tools: Slima MCP

If you already work inside another AI tool, Slima MCP lets that tool read and write your Slima books directly. It is not a fourth studio. It is a wire in from outside.

Two things running underneath all of it

Whole-book context. When you rewrite chapter eight, the AI remembers chapter two. That is the largest difference between Slima and a general chat tool: it doesn't start from nothing every time.

Version history. Snapshots accumulate as you write, and you can name one yourself at a moment that matters. Switch person, cut a subplot, rewrite an ending — you can get back. See why versions exist.

• Slima runs in the browser and as a desktop app, and content syncs between them. See Web, PWA or desktop.
