Start and manage chats

Lectura de 3 min

The AI Coach isn't just a chat box — it supports multiple chats, history, pinning, so a long-running book project can have structured conversations.

Start a new chat

Three paths:

  1. ➕ icon at the top of the Coach panel
  2. 鍵盤快捷鍵(依版本而異)
  3. Command palette → "New chat"

A new chat:

  • Loads the current book's context (including writing-spec.md)
  • Default name "New chat — [time]"
  • Rename it any time after the first stream

Switch between past chats

The Coach panel has a "Chat history" tab listing every chat in the current book:

  • Title (or first message if unnamed)
  • Last active time
  • Message count

Click to switch.

Multi-chat tabs (several open at once)

You can hold up to 5 chat tabs open simultaneously:

  • Switch with tabs at the top of the panel
  • Close with × per tab
  • Closed chats aren't lost — they're in history

Typical use:

  • Tab 1: pacing for Chapter 8 with the Coach
  • Tab 2: setups in Chapter 1
  • They don't interfere

Pin a chat

Right-click a chat → Pin. Pinned chats:

  • Stay at the top of history
  • Won't be auto-cleaned
  • Show a pin icon

E.g. pin "This book's overall outline discussion" — long-running, always one click away.

writing-spec.md auto-loads

When you start a chat, Slima auto-attaches writing-spec.md as system context.

You don't see it in the message list — but the AI honours it throughout.

Cross-book memory

Default: per-book isolation — what you discussed about Book A won't leak into Book B.

For screenplay adapters: enable "Cross-book memory" in chat settings and pick the source book.

Delete / export chats

⋯ menu on each chat:

  • Delete — into trash for 30 days
  • Export to Markdown — save the whole chat as .md
  • Rename
