Create character + templates + auto-detection
Create characters manually inside the Character Bible or use a template for a quick start. Characters appearing in dialogue are also auto-detected.

Manual creation
1. Click "+ Add Character"
Left column bottom → opens the Add Character dialog:
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Avatar (optional) | Upload an image; appears on the character chip |
| Name (required) | Character name (e.g. J. Doe) |
| Role | Protagonist / Antagonist / Supporting (default) / Minor / Cameo |
| Which layer does this character belong to? | Work-wide / Season-limited (S1) / Episode-limited (EP01) |
2. Confirm
After confirming, the character appears in the left list and the detail panel expands on the right with all detail fields ready (details).
Templates
Some versions ship character templates — e.g.:
- Typical Protagonist: protagonist role, pre-filled "growth arc" / "ego flaw"
- Typical Antagonist: antagonist role, pre-filled "motivation" / "weakness"
- Typical Mentor Supporting: supporting role, pre-filled "wisdom quotes" / "past history"
Templates speed up common archetypes; everything is freely editable afterwards.
Auto-detection (from dialogue)
When writing:
J. DOE
I haven't seen fog like this in thirty years.
A. SMITH ← never declared as a character before
...
Slima detects "A. SMITH" as a new Character element → auto-adds to the Character Bible (as "Supporting" by default). You can later open the panel and fill detail.
Empty-state hint (i18n confirmed): "Characters appear automatically when you write their dialogue in the editor. Or add manually to start building."
Editing character metadata
Click any character → detail panel expands; all fields editable:
- Name (renames cascade across dialogue in the script, like a wikilink)
- Role
- Layer
- All detail fields
Deleting a character
⋯ menu → Delete. Confirmation appears with "This character appears in N scenes."
Slima auto-versions before delete — recoverable from history.
